From Australia to the UK, this couple showed their Australian friends what a DIY English wedding is all about. No detail was left unturned in this gorgeous countryside wedding in the Peak District. Horsleygate Hall is a quaint, picturesque venue that has an abundance of photographic opportunities and land fit for a wonderful Tipi Wedding by Tipi Unique. A secret garden wedding for those wanting more of an intimate experience on their special day.
Rebecca and Paul, originally from Yorkshire UK, are a travel loving couple who moved to Australia to start their many adventures together. No one could have expected just how much thought and detail went into their wedding day, that was planned from the other side of the world! Everywhere you looked around the Horsleygate Hall grounds were SO many details hand crafted by the couple, it really did show off their personalities and love for each other. Bunting, wild flowers, ALL of the gin references you could imagine and also subtle hints of an Australian vibe throughout whilst keeping to English tradition with afternoon tea.

How would you describe your wedding style/vibe? |
| Very relaxed with a rustic country garden feel. We purposely wanted to show off our personalities and keep the day very chilled out. There was a lot of homemade props, bunting, wild flowers, afternoon tea and several references to gin. We also incorporated a little hint of Australia throughout our decorations. |
When did you two meet? |
| We met over 10 years ago at university, we both worked behind the bar at the student union. |
Tell us about the proposal! When? Where? How? |
| The proposal happened on holiday in Fiji. Paul finally decided to propose after 7 years, he carried the ring around with him in his rucksack for the whole holiday waiting for the right moment to pop the question. Paul finally found the perfect spot to propose at a sunset lookout which looked out over crystal clear waters of the south pacific. However this didn’t fully go to plan, just as he was about to do it another couple turned up and ruined the moment. When we got back to the room and was getting ready for dinner, i went into Paul’s rucksack looking for the camera, Paul panicked thinking i had seen the ring. As i finished getting ready i asked Paul how do i look? he replied with you look beautiful and i have bought you something to wear with it. The next minute Paul is down on one knee proposing. My first response was are you joking? Then of course said YES!! We then went for a lovely dinner with champagne to celebrate. |
What was your absolute favourite part of the day? |
| Its so hard to pick out one special moment as everything was so perfect. We spent 3 years planning the wedding from Australia and to see all of our ideas come together on the day was truly amazing. Just having both of our friends and family from the UK and Australia together in one place will be something we will both never forget. |

Would your answer be different now? |
| I always wanted to have a videographer at the wedding, but Paul wasn’t as keen. We hadn’t factored a videographer into our budget, as we had already spent over our budget by quite a bit. However, Sarah was the videographer at two of my friends weddings and after watching her work and seeing the amazing videos she produced i knew we had to book her, I ended up asking Sarah at my friends wedding if she was free in June and luckily she was. I booked her there and then without telling Paul only telling him when the deposit was paid. However, after Paul had seen our wedding video his mind had defiantly been changed. |
What is your favourite thing about your wedding video? |
| Being able to relive the day over and over again. I loved how Sarah managed to capture every moment of the day. it allowed us to relive or see parts of the day that we had forgotten or never got chance to see. Probably, our most favourite part about the video is how Sarah used lines from peoples speeches to narrate the video from start to finish. |
Would you recommend to your friends to get a wedding videographer? |
| Absolutely!!!! It’s definitely worth factoring into your budget, without a doubt you will regret it if you don’t. Being able to relive the day again in years to come is so amazing. |

| Definitely!!! Sarah is soo amazing at what she does, we barely knew she was even there on the day capturing all the amazing moments. She is so comfortable to be around and makes you feel at ease. Organising a wedding from Australia was difficult enough in itself but Sarah made it so easy. She was so quick at replying to emails and nothing was too much trouble. We had so many of our guests comment on how amazing our wedding video was. Sarah is so talented and we are so happy we booked Plume Creative. Thank you again for our beautiful wedding video xxx |
