Say what? More time in front of the camera? You’ve got to be kidding me?
In my experience, a lot of my couples are dreading being in front of the camera so I tend to need to give them a little nudge to agree to a pre wedding photoshoot, but each one of them have always thanked me for the experience and for helping them to relax. They often say the experience got them so excited for their big day and made them realise there really was nothing to worry about! SO, let’s talk about 5 reasons why I think you should have a pre wedding/engagement photoshoot!
1) Get to know your photographer
Creating a connection with your photographer before the big day is so important and will allow you to relax more on your wedding day. My photography is just as much about your experience as it is the resulting images, they go hand in hand. If you hate the experience, chances are you are going to hate the photos. This is why I create a connection with you before I even lift my camera out of my bag, I want us to get to know each other so that you feel comfortable with me. This will ensure that your wedding day feels natural and I can concentrate on creating some beautiful photos for you.
2) See How Your Photographer Works
I want you to be and feel yourselves, not forced, awkward versions of yourselves, I will not be getting you to hold those awkward, cringeworthy poses. Yes I have little creative direction secrets up my sleeve to create some beautiful photographs of the two of you, but I want to show your relationship and personalities shining through. I have a ‘What To Wear’ guide that I send out once you book your pre wedding shoot and lots of guides and tips for you to make this a fun experience (even if that is encouraging you to go for a beer if you are super nervous)
3) Get rid of the awkwardness
So I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say this is probably the first time you have been in front of the lens of a professional photographer together…unless you are models and then hey, we don’t need to worry about you feeling awkward! Look, I will hold my hand up and say I’m not the most comfortable in front of the camera, but I have also had very different experiences depending on which photographer I have chosen to work with. I once got some headshots done for my business, I felt so awkward with the directions the photographer was giving me, telling me to hold and as a result I HATED the images. A couple of years later I decided to give it another go. This time, I worked with a photographer I knew was a similar style to me, we had so much fun and I laughed until my stomach hurt. RESULT: photos that show my personality perfectly!
4) Extra value – MORE PHOTOS
Who doesn’t enjoy getting more for their money? I am running an offer for clients that book in 2020 that will include their pre wedding photoshoot FREE OF CHARGE. This is £250 value and it is a priceless experience for you to enjoy and celebrate your engagement together. From your 1 hr pre wedding shoot you will be delivered a total of 50-75 professionally edited photos. They are a great idea to maybe choose one for your save the date cards or for signing boards on the big day for your guests to write congratulatory messages.
5) Have fun!
Not one of my couples have come away saying they didn’t enjoy the experience and have all said it helped them to get excited about working with me again as their wedding photographer.
We absolutely LOVED our photos because they were so natural! They really showed our personality and relationship. Will was so nervous to do the shoot because he HATES having his photo take, but with the guidance Sarah gave us, he acted like a pro and really enjoyed it!
